GlowDoc Release

What is GlowDoc?

GlowDoc is a homegrown documentation static-site generator that is meant to be both lightning fast and drop dead gorgeous. It has themes to style the website however you want, or extend the themes should you so desire. Its generator is written in Rust, so its blazingly fast to reduce friction in getting your documentation out.

Why does GlowDoc need to exist?

I felt the static-site-generation space had been pulled in either one of two directions, either into the loving embrace of speed with folks like MdBook, or those focused on style like Docusaurus or Astro. However, most of those solutions force you to tailor your documentation writing/naming to fit their convention, when in reality, you should be able to stick some markdown on the web and it looks good out of the gate. No more messing with files, or introducing components/writing a bunch of JavaScript to get your documentation out and around. So why not offer a solution that's the best of both worlds? Configuration is confined to a config.yaml for project organization, and themes are baked in with more always on the way.

Next Steps

I have a few small things to iterate on, adding in favicons, etc, but it's by and large ready for use. I'd like to publish a binary that folks can pull and use to get up and running even quicker too. Other than that, I'm going to dog-food it and run some home-spun documentation I have laying around to check in on my personal website.
